Vice and Virtue
Loosely affiliated with Melora, the Feryn Ylynnath (Elven for “Monster Hunters”) are an organisation of hunters, specialising in the hunting of unnatural things. They are mostly solitary, travelling the world, and usually do contract work. For that purpose, most settlements have something akin to a bounty board somewhere, where clients can post contracts that any Faron (singular of Feryn) can take up. These generally range from keeping the local populace safe from a particular menace, to breaking the curse on a family, to procuring exotic spell ingredients for a wizard.
The Feryn are politically neutral and try to stay out of any worldly conflicts, concerning themselves only with the hunt of unnatural things. To that end, most Feryn know a good deal about nature, magic, and the Planes, and accumulate a vast amount of knowledge to help them in their quest.
The organisation itself is very loose, with no real hierarchy. Feryn in training rank below those who have completed their training, but apart from that there is no real distinction. Feryn are fiercely independent and usually work alone, though sometimes, a few of them form a temporary group to fight a particularly powerful monster, and some of them also join together with other adventurers. Technically, a few priests of Melora lead the Feryn, but in practice, they rarely do more than give occasional advice to individual hunters.
